Who Am I?
Having so many interests often feels like a burden for me, but I’ve decided to flip it on its head and find a platform to share the many thoughts, feelings and findings that I have. A place to explore all things nature, photography, health and sustainability; as these are such a huge part of my inspiration and motivation for what I do. So, hi everyone! Welcome to my blog.
It is July 2020 and restrictions have really started to ease here in Scotland. By now I should have been half way through my Canadian adventure, travelling and working my way around the vast country… Instead I’m entering the third month of being back at home, still not really leaving the area around my house.
Although my year (like many others) has been flipped upside down, tossed around and shaken about, I’ve taken so much joy in slowing down and taking one day at a time.
In general I spend so much of my time procrastinating by thinking about everything and anything - things I want to learn about, explore and create. This isn’t usually great for my workflow but I’ve decided to use it to my advantage and create this blog; what better time to start than at the beginning of a brand new post lockdown journey.
For anyone wondering who on earth I am and wanting to know a bit more about me, here’s a sneak peak:
I was born in Wales and lived in the mid west until I was 12. My family then moved to Scotland with me in tow and I have been in the Highlands ever since. Whilst living here my Mum grew a passion for the garden and photographing all it has to offer. Following in her footsteps I then picked up a camera when I was about 15 and have never looked back! Finding inspiration from my love of science and nature, I moved down to Cornwall to study Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University and graduated in 2019. Since then it has been a rollercoaster of a year trying to navigate my next steps in life.
Tierney Lloyd Creative Media was born in my last year of university where I decided to dedicate my work to inform and inspire people about the natural world. Using a mix of photography and film making, I hope to encourage a connection with the outdoors, in hope that it will lead to action - to protect nature and what it has to offer. Combining a passion for the arts, conservation and wellbeing (both human and the world), I hope I can guide, inform and inspire.
To lighten the mood as that all sounds a bit heavy, here are some fun facts since this is my introduction...
I live with the most randomly paired dogs - an Alaskan Malamute and a Cockapoo. Most people who know me are obsessed almost as much as I am.
I have no accent? Anyone I meet questions where I’m from and since I have lived in every part of the UK except Ireland/Northern Ireland, it can be impossible to place. Sometimes you’ll hear a little twang here and there.
I can get lost for hours scrolling through interior design on pinterest. It’s a big distraction and I should probably reign it in or I might have to change careers. (Only joking, nothing will be changing anytime soon, University was stressful).
Starting this blog, I’m not 100% sure where this will go but I know there are so many things I would like to share with the world. So, this will now be a platform for thoughts, feelings and hopefully a bit of education too! Expect to see some behind the scenes and an insight into the world of a natural history enthusiast/creative.
I hope you follow along with this blogging journey and I look forward to seeing where this goes.
